10 AM - 11:15 AM HOW TO PROMOTE YOURSELF IN THE NEW INDUSTRY MODEL

For this panel we will be taking a look at the career arc of Chapel Hill, NC-based Americana/roots group Mandolin Orange as a case study for success in the new music business.

Yep Roc co-founder Glenn Dicker first saw Mandolin Orange perform in years ago in a Mexican restaurant in Chapel Hill.  This fall they will headline two nights at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, one of which is already sold out.  Along the way the group has amassed over 50 million streams on Spotify and become the best-selling artist in Yep Roc's 20+ year history.

They have achieved this without major commercial radio play or traditional media exposure such as TV or mainstream ad campaigns.  Instead, through targeted marketing and grass roots engagement, they have built a direct and lasting connection with fans that only stands to grow as they continue to sell out ever-larger venues around the world.

Dicker, and the band's publicist Matt Hanks (Shore Fire Media) will discuss the group's unique path to success and share experiences with other artists who have embraced the new industry model.
